Why we really DO need Jesse Lingard
Who shot JR? Will Jesse Lingard sign or not sign for West Ham?

It's one of life's cliff hangers. Let's hope it has a happy ending.

Because watching our concerning performance against Rangers, and the lack of creativity and goals towards the end of last season, we need a spark.

That spark could be Jesse.

From Lingard's point of view - he could snatch more money playing in the backwaters of the Arabian desert.
This is his last big pay day - and he's keen to stay in England.

We should just cough up and get the job done.

Okay, yes, it's a gamble. Lingard could become a fat, overpaid turkey, more interested in pedalling his social media account than playing SOCCER.

But his goals, his pace, and his creativity could be the difference between a mediocre season and a good one.

I was on the fence, now I reluctantly believe we need to take a gamble.

Who agrees?

Re: Why we really DO need Jesse Lingard
That would be you and you alone I reckon, not even Moyes I would have thought at that price.

Maybe we were so lacking in goals cause the idiot Moyes thought there wasn't a good enough striker in world football that we could have got?

Re: Why we really DO need Jesse Lingard
I think the point is moot because

Lingard and his family live in Manchester - Why would he want to move to London and miss his kids?

This will be his last big money contract - Why wouldn't he accept Forest's offer (supposedly 180-200k/wk)

Fwiw, I'm with 147, although maybe not with the kids bit. Not sure why there is always this assumption that all blokes always want to be with their kids, ''modern day dad's'' I suppose. Rooney has just flew 3000 miles to get away from his sprogs. But if Lingard makes a decision based on money it's hardly crime of the century, he has no loyalty to anyone outside of the red Mancs.

Re: Why we really DO need Jesse Lingard
No fucking chance.

Not only has he lead us along for over a year now, he is not a player worth busting out wage straucture for.

We don't NEED Jesse Lingard, but we do need some attacking creativity.

I actually believe Januzaj could be just as effective . is younger, and would be cheaper.

Lingard can do one the way he's strung us along.

Re: Why we really DO need Jesse Lingard
Lingard's a decent player but people who want him back seem to think he'll somehow emulate his form in those first 9 games he had on loan with us. He won't.

I recently saw an article that was written just after those first 9 games, analysing how differently we were playing compared to before he joined. Everything became about counterattacking from deep, even more so than before, with even less possession and much fewer crosses. Everything was set up for a player like him to shine, but if you stick with such an obvious system it soon gets found out and nullified. Not sure if that's the reason his last games with us were so poor in comparison.

Re: Why we really DO need Jesse Lingard
It's a no

Lingard is 29 never been a week in week out starter in his career. He played a handful of excellent games. When he was fresh unlike the rest of the players. These performance were overly praised because they were essentially 'island games' where everyones focus was on them due to COVID so they reached hyperbolic levels of praise

Plus I ll say it again if he was so well liked at the club why was his watch lifted from the dressing room and he never got it back

Re: Why we really DO need Jesse Lingard
He will go to Forest, score the winner against us but not much else... I can live with that.

We should have got Potter-Keane IMO but having said that I hope that Moyes shows some faith in Benrahma... make him feel wanted and give him a long run in the team as a starter and that will pay dividends.

Re: Why we really DO need Jesse Lingard
I am fed up with this transfer saga. He should have signed last summer, it was the right time and he would have been an asset. As it stands he brings too much baggage and will upset the balance, with massive pay cheques and an automatic selection. No, he can fuck off and be a burden somewhere else.

How exactly could he have signed last summer when they refused to sell him to us?

The bloke represents everything that’s wrong with football.
Admittedly he played some great stuff when on loan but he’s ultimately a greedy self indulgent fancy pants cretin.
